REMNANT RADIO ANNOUNCEMENT:

MICHAEL ROWNTREE

Our desire is to always be transparent with our audience. As such, we want to advise that Michael Rowntree is no longer serving as Lead Pastor of Preaching and Vision at Bridgeway Church.

Michael concluded his tenure at Bridgeway Church due to a disagreement with leadership regarding the application of Matthew 18 procedures against a church member over a non-sin issue. The situation prompted Michael to feel that procedures were not implemented biblically, which led to bigger questions of church governance and application, and ultimately, a parting of ways.

For clarification on Michael's position about church governance, please watch Remnant's recent episode on the topic. Please keep Michael, his family and the Bridgeway Church body in your prayers. Thank you.

ASK YOUR QUESTIONS:

Have a theology question? Drop it here. While we can't guarantee we'll tackle every question, we'll dive into a couple each week. So, fire away and let's explore together!

Question from Ryan in Texas: Catholics teach that demonic oppression can only be combated by proper Authority Structures within the Big C Church as well as specific prayers. If true, how do you guys profess to have seen so much demonic deliverance?

Answer: We would disagree with the teaching that only proper authority structures can cast out demons. Rather, we would look to Mark 10:17 and also Luke 10:17-19 that authority to cast out demons has been given to all Christian believers.

Question from Elijah in Virginia: Can you cast a demon out of someone who doesn't want to be free? I saw a viral video of an abortion doctor who very clearly demonically manifested to a protester outsider. Could he have cast the demon out of that man even if he didn't want to? Would it be wise?

Answer: You could look to the fortune-telling slave girl in Acts 16 as an example of a demon cast out of someone who wasn’t seeking to be free. Your question on ‘Would it be wise?’ is astute. Can we versus should we? On one hand, if the Gospel is given immediately after and there is opportunity to disciple that person, it could be an amazing salvation. However, we must also be mindful of Matthew 12:43-45 where the unclean spirit returns with seven more and the state of the person becomes even worse. There had better be opportunity and time for discipleship to Christ.

SHOWS LAST WEEK:

If you missed joining us for the Live Chat, you can still catch the episodes:

Navigating the Flood: Interview with Gavin Ortlund

Join us as we re-examine the Noah's ark narrative with Gavin Ortlund, president of Truth Unites. We'll chat with Gavin about his perspective on the Genesis 6 account, challenging interpretations of a global flood.

In a recent social media video, Ortlund ignited a fervent debate by proposing that the flood described in Genesis may have been regional rather than global in scope. Is the Bible employing hyperbolic language to convey its message? How might understanding the cultural and historical context of the narrative reshape our interpretation?

IHOP: A House Divided

We first addressed the allegations against Mike Bickle with the International House of Prayer on November 7, 2023. You can watch that initial episode here. Upcoming on Wednesday, March 6, we'll confront the undeniable evidence that has since come to the forefront.

We've interviewed key figures intimately acquainted with Mike Bickle, shedding light on the stark realities of the situation. We'll navigate the complexities of confronting egregious sin and wrongdoing within the Church.

Amidst the turmoil, we'll also witness the armor of God being wielded within the body of Christ, as the church body behind IHOP stands firm in demanding righteousness and accountability. The sword of truth has rightly divided, separating wickedness from the core of a ministry once revered for its devotion to prayer and worship.

As we bear witness to this heartbreaking chapter, let's draw lessons and insights that guide us forward, as we strive to uphold the honor and integrity of the Church in every circumstance.
