BIBLICAL INERRANCY: What Does “Without Error” Really Mean? Interview with Dr. Richard Howe
Join us as we dive deep into biblical inerrancy with Dr. Richard G. Howe, Norman L. Geisler Chair of Christian Apologetics at Southern Evangelical Seminary and Past President of the International Society of Christian Apologetics. Drawing from decades of experience defending the Christian faith on university campuses and international platforms, Dr. Howe provides a philosophically robust framework for understanding Scripture’s truthfulness. | Dr. Richard Howe |
From his correspondence theory of truth to the relationship between divine inspiration and inerrancy, we’ll explore how God’s nature necessarily implies an errorless Bible, examine the difference between legitimate literary devices and historical alterations, and wrestle with how to approach apparent discrepancies in the Gospels. As both a philosopher and theologian, Dr. Howe brings unique insights to this crucial doctrine that grounds our faith. Whether you’re wrestling with difficult passages or seeking a deeper understanding of biblical authority, this conversation offers crucial insights into how we read and trust God’s Word.

SPIRITUAL WARFARE: Lessons from Haiti - Interview with Dr. Matt Ayars
What happens when Western theology meets spiritual warfare on the mission field? We're sitting down with Dr. Matt Ayars, who spent years on the front lines of spiritual battle as President of Emmaus University in Haiti. Dr. Ayars brings a unique perspective as both a seasoned academic (current Lead Pastor of Wellspring Church in MS and former President of Wesley Biblical Seminary) and a missionary who has encountered spiritual warfare firsthand in a culture where voodoo and Christianity intersect.
We’ll explore: • Real experiences of spiritual warfare in Haiti • Biblical foundations from Genesis to Ephesians • Practical wisdom for spiritual battles • How Western Christians should understand spiritual warfare • The intersection of academic theology and spiritual reality
Whether you’re a missionary, pastor, or believer wanting to understand spiritual warfare better, this conversation bridges the gap between theological truth and practical experience. Join us for this powerful discussion with Dr. Ayars, host of Seminary Unboxed, as we unpack what spiritual warfare really looks like on the ground.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Have a theology question? Drop it here. While we can't guarantee we'll tackle every question, we'll dive into one or two each week. So, fire away and let's explore together!
Question from Sal in California: I see in Isaiah, the Lord judging nations and people, Israel, Egypt, Moabites… the judgement is pretty harsh, barren lands, being overtaken by other people… Does God still judge nations like this to this day? He also forgives the nations when they repent or if I read it right, he also forgives and then they repent. What would it take nowadays, for example, how many people or who(from the people) would need to repent for the judgement to turn into forgiveness and blessing?
Answer: Yes, God still judges nations today, as His character and justice remain unchanging. There isn’t a massive difference between the Old and New Covenant regarding how nations are judged. While Israel had a specific covenant with God that governed its judgment, this was separate from how other nations were judged. The moral law of Israel represented a universal law, as referenced in Romans 2, which speaks of an unwritten law inscribed on the hearts of Gentiles - a law by which Gentile nations were and are still judged. With Jesus now ascended to God’s right hand, He continues to judge nations and empires as the King of Kings.
Saint Augustine, in “City of God,” addressed this concept when explaining Rome’s fall. He argued that Rome didn’t fall because it had become Christian, as pagans claimed, but because its empire and institutions adhered to the principles of the “city of man” rather than the “city of God.” In other words, Rome reaped what it sowed through its own wickedness and unrighteousness.
Regarding national repentance, Nineveh serves as a powerful example of how a nation’s collective turning to God can avert judgment. Another perspective is Abraham’s intercession for Sodom and Gomorrah, where he negotiated with God from 50 down to 10 righteous people. However, God doesn’t give us a specific number required for sparing a nation; instead, He invites us into a relationship of intercession and prayer. And, as referenced in Ezekiel, there can be instances where a nation’s wickedness becomes so severe that even the presence of righteous individuals (like Daniel, Abraham, or Job) wouldn’t prevent judgment, though these righteous ones themselves would be saved.
God is sovereign and deals with each situation differently. So while there’s no specific “quota” for repentance, 2 Chronicles 7:14 provides a pattern that starts with God’s people humbling themselves and seeking His face. May we, as the Church, lead the way in fulfilling this pattern in all nations across the world.
