Word of Faith Scriptures Exposed
Join the Remnant hosts and Dr. Mikael Stenhammar as they examine the Word of Faith movement's problematic interpretations of Scripture. With Dr. Stenhammar's extensive background as a pastor, missionary, and theology professor, he is able to equip believers with the tools to navigate away from the Prosperity Gospel's distortions and toward a Spirit-filled, biblically grounded faith. This episode promises to be a compelling examination of how these interpretations have shaped the Word of Faith movement and how to reclaim a liberating and faithful approach to Scripture.
You can watch our previous episode with Mikael here.
Episode premieres Monday, September 2 at 4:00 p.m. CDT/UTC-5.

Overcoming Christian Scandal Fatigue
In this episode, we tackle a pressing issue that has left many believers disillusioned: scandal fatigue. From the moral failures of once-trusted Christian leaders like Mike Bickle, Robert Morris, Ravi Zacharias, Jerry Falwell Jr., and Mark Driscoll, to the widespread misconduct uncovered within organizations such as Hillsong Church and the Southern Baptist Convention, the Christian community has faced a barrage of betrayals. These scandals cut deep, leaving behind a trail of hurt and a growing sense of apathy and distrust.
As Christians, we understand that leaders are human, fallible, and susceptible to sin. Yet, the repeated revelations of moral failures among those who should know better have left many struggling with a profound sense of betrayal. How do we cope with the emotional toll of these scandals? How can we overcome the fatigue that threatens to erode our faith and commitment?
Join us as we explore these questions, looking to Jesus—who Himself was betrayed by a trusted friend—for guidance. We'll discuss how to heal from church hurt, regain our focus on Christ, and continue being a light in a world overshadowed by the failures of those we once admired. Don’t miss this critical conversation on restoring trust and hope in the wake of scandal.
Join the Live Chat Wednesday, September 4 at 4:00 p.m. CDT/UTC-5.

ASK YOUR QUESTIONS:
Have a theology question? Drop it here. While we can't guarantee we'll tackle every question, we'll dive into one or two each week.
Scott from Canada: Having been convinced in the past year, largely by you guys (thank you!), that the gifts are for today, I still have some questions about tongues. My biggest question being, is it possible to "miss it"? If we grant that tongues may be a heavenly language, how is it possible to have any evaluation of its spiritual content in our personal lives as is so heartily promoted in regards to something like prophecy? To put it another way, how can I know I DON'T have the gift of tongues if anyone can easily mimic it? Is fake tongues "a thing" for the Christian?
Answer: The gift of tongues, especially in a personal prayer language, can be challenging to evaluate in the same way prophecy might be evaluated, where there is a clear message to discern. However, there are ways to review the impact and authenticity of tongues in your personal spiritual life:
By Their Fruit: Jesus taught that we can recognize the work of the Spirit by the fruit it produces (Matthew 7:16-20). If your practice of speaking in tongues leads to greater intimacy with God, deeper prayer, a sense of peace, and an overall strengthening of your faith, these are signs that the gift is genuine and edifying.
Closeness to the Holy Spirit: When you speak in tongues, do you experience a sense of closeness to the Holy Spirit? Do you feel your spirit being uplifted and edified? The Apostle Paul speaks of tongues as a way to build up oneself spiritually (1 Corinthians 14:4). If speaking in tongues brings you closer to God and enriches your prayer life, that’s a positive indication of its authenticity.
Edification in Prayer: Is your prayer life enriched through the practice of tongues? Do you find that your prayers become more fervent, Spirit-led, and aligned with God’s will? This is another key sign that the gift is functioning as it should.
Faking the Gift of Tongues
Yes, it’s possible for someone to fake the gift of tongues, either intentionally or unintentionally. This can happen if a person feels pressured to conform to what they see others doing or if they’re trying to convince themselves that they’ve received the gift. However, faking tongues lacks the true spiritual fruit that the Holy Spirit produces.
The key is authenticity in your walk with God. If the gift is drawing you closer to Jesus, increasing your love for others, and enriching your prayer life, then it’s likely a genuine work of the Holy Spirit.

Heiser Under Review: Exploring Doreen Virtue's Criticisms of Dr. Michael Heiser's Work
The late Dr. Michael Heiser was known for his groundbreaking perspectives on the supernatural realm, including the divine council, the Tower of Babel, Theosis, Genesis 1:26, Psalm 82, the Book of Enoch, Nephilim, demonology, and angelology. As the author of influential works like The Unseen Realm and Reversing Hermon, Heiser helped shape contemporary understanding of these complex topics.
Recently, Doreen Virtue, alongside Hebrew scholar Dr. Wave Nunnally, Systematic Theology Professor Dr. Jordan Cooper, Pastor Gary Gilley, Pastor Samuel Farag, Marcia Montenegro, and Don Veinot, has raised concerns about some of Heiser's interpretations. You can watch their review of Dr. Heiser here.
In this episode, we'll dive deep into their critiques and explore whether these concerns hold weight. What are the implications for those who follow Heiser's teachings? Join us as we critically examine these viewpoints and discuss what this means for our understanding of the supernatural in Scripture.
